This DVD is a 2 part series. Part 1 is 45 minutes Part 2 is 48 minutes. It is suggested for ages 12 and up.
The skin is the largest organ in the body! This DVD covers the epidermis, dermis, and hypo dermis. Skins glands and appendages such as hair and nails. It goes over how our sweat glands control our body temperature and our pigment cells that protect our skin from the sun’s radiation.
The setting: Dr. Menton is sitting with two high school students at a table with his laptop….laid back lecture would be what I would call this.
It quickly got dry and boring for my 7th and 9th graders who were hoping for more “interactive material” as the 12 year old put it. They are very much Bill Nye fans. These were more of a lecture style teaching. From an adults perspective I found this interesting, although not attention grabbing. That said, I LOVE that it was from a Creation Worldview! There was scripture quoted throughout both sessions. The pictures they showed with the different layers of skin were intriguing.
It would have been great to have a short Q & A to go with it, like note taking, as there were a lot of vocabulary words. There is a 64 page study guide available separately. It covers the whole Body of Evidence series.
