My cell phone rang.
It was 6 a.m.
A call that early is never good.
I answered it sleepily.
The lady on the other end asked if I was Katey….Mary’s daughter.
“I’m sorry Katey. But your mother has passed””
“WHAT?”
“ARE YOU SURE?”
“DO YOU HAVE THE RIGHT PATIENT?
Yes dear I am sorry. She wasn’t feeling well after using the restroom so I went to get her ice chips.
I came back and she was gone.
In a fog I make it up the stairs to my friends bedroom yelling DYANN! MY MOM DIED!
I don’t remember saying good bye to the lady on the phone.
I had to call The Principal!
and my brother!
Unexpected! She was doing so well….getting stronger….we had plans.
Unexpected….He had a plan and now I finally knew what that plan was.

Oh hard, that’s the hard unexpected. I know how that feels. A difficult one to wrap head and heart around.
It is difficult…it was one of your posts that helped me early on…
I love your writing and love seeing your healing process!!!
Thank you for your shoulder at Relevant! I don’t do that with just anybody :)
Sending hugs your way!
Thank you Stephanie!
Oh, my heart aches for you. My mom died this past Easter. Totally unexpected. Hugs and blessings and prayers coming your way.
Praying for you too! Harder than I ever imagined!
Just came across to your blog from Hip Hop Homeschool Moms. I’m so sorry your mom passed away. My mom also passed away this year too. She died Feb. 28th of pancreatic cancer and was only stage 2. We did not expect her to die, things were going fairly well after having 6 months of chemotherapy, and then suddenly got so sick, in less than a week, she was gone. May you find peace in the Lord’s comfort.
You too! Not a fun journey to go through
