Be Still and Know

Fall is upon us. With fall comes new routines. New ‘socialization’ opportunities. Also the possibility of over-scheduling of our lives.
When we first started homeschooling my biggest fear wasn’t if I could teach Algebra or Chemistry.
My biggest fear was if my kids would have enough socialization.
We did co-op. (where we HAD to go on EVERY field trip) We did homeschool bowling league. (Went to state even) We did karate. We joined a gym, similar to the Y, and went after school got out so the kids would be able to have interaction. Then there was youth group.
We were busy. Too busy. Add to these activities the 40 minute drive EACH way.
We were doing so much that not much learning was happening.
I eventually said the madness HAD to stop.
We dropped co-op. We dropped bowling. We dropped karate.
We did add drama at the local playhouse. Only 15 minutes from home and we carpool.
Youth group is still in there as well. Again, only 15 minutes from home.
When you are so over scheduled you can’t, or don’t, spend time with Him much less hear Him.
We aren’t supposed to be a go everywhere, do everything people.
We are supposed to be still. We are supposed to know Him.
The only way to know Him is to BE with Him.
So Be Still and KNOW….
