DIY On Guard Foaming Hand Soap
This is by far the easiest, homemade, frugal foaming hand soap I have made. You don’t have to use the branded soap dispenser. It is just what I had on hand. I actually plan on using these. Much cuter in my kitchen and bathroom. I am still in search of the Foaming Hand soap dispenser for Mason Jars.
Why use On Guard Foaming Hand Soap?
On Guard protects against environmental and seasonal threats with essential oils known for their positive effects on the immune system.
This recipe for foaming hand wash is a wonderful, all-natural alternative to the antibacterial hand soaps that are on the market today.
• Supports healthy immune function
• Protects against environmental threats
• Cleanses surfaces
• Purifies the skin while promoting healthy circulation
• Energizing and uplifting aroma

Does the oil not separate from the soap?
Sometimes the soap settles. I just give the bottle a shake and we are good to go.
What essential oil are you using?
OnGuard from DoTerra. (It’s in the title.) 🙂
I’d imagine I could use Orange or Lemon or any scented castille soap as a base then add any essential oil scents to blend?
I have used Peppermint castile soap as well, combined with On Guard. It makes my nose happy!
Not sure if you mentioned it or not but a glass dispenser should be use, the essential oil will etch a plastic bottle and then the plastic will leach into the soap. Thanks for the recipe.
I need to use fragrance and gluten free soaps and cleaners. I’m going to be switching over to this. Much easier than struggling to find gluten free cleaners in the store, since the FDA is not requiring these type of products to list gluten, since it’s not ingested, but the gluten is still absorbed through the skin.

You don’t have to use a glass bottle with OnGuard hand soap. When Doterra sends it to you already made it is in a plastic bottle and comes with a plastic dispenser,so its okay to you a plastic dispenser at home when making it. 🙂
Love, love, love this soap!!!
I just made this! It’s awesome! Love it!
Since we’ll be using the “hole in the counter” soap dispensers, shaking is not an option. I’m wondering if one took all this and blended it in something like the vitamix, would it be mixed in such a way that it would not separate later?
I heard that if you mix a bit of witch hazel in with anything you are making with essential oils and water, it helps to mix the ingredients. I use a bit of it when I am making my lavender body mist and seems to help.
I’ve made many foaming soaps and was curious…how do you make them as clear as the ones you purchase? Mine are always cloudy. I’ve tried using olive oil, or argan oil, even coconut oil and they’re always cloudy. I’d love to make one that is crystal clear. Thanks! Regardless, I love the homemade versions despite the fact they’re clouded. Oh, I’ve also used a few drops of food grade food coloring to match the essential oil I use and yes, they’re cloudy but pretty clouds. 🙂
I don’t understand why you’re using olive oil, Argan oil and coconut oil. Those aren’t the essential oils she’s talking about.
Also, why are you putting food colouring into soap?! You’re trying to clean your hands, and the food colouring will DYE your hands! ( My children did this to make the “pretty clouds” you’re mentioning, and it made a stained MESS in the bathroom! And on the towels they used to dry their hands!) Don’t add food colouring to soap!
I used 1/3 cup soap and it worked fine —
Good to know! Thank you!
I am sure you have discovered this by now, but Amazon sells foaming dispensers for mason jars. I made up several throughout the home. They have cute old fashion labels as well.
I would love to try this as we use so much hand soap around here. But, I was wondering if you are supposed to put any fractioned coconut oil in it, too? Or, is that necessary? Thank you!
Oh, you probably could. It sure would make your hands soft.
I use a pump of FCO in mine.
