So the Shizz has indeed HTF. You have rice and beans. You have wood and propane. You have used coupons and stockpiled toothpaste and body wash. Do you have morale boosting foods for a SHTF scenario?

 

I asked my Prepper Peeps what are some foods that you will miss when the SHTF….Yes, I said when, because I do believe that something will happen in our lifetime. Obviously, or I wouldn’t be a Prepper.

#1 Chocolate

  • Chocolate Chips
  • Chocolate Candy Bars
  • Hot Chocolate
  • Chocolate Sauce

#2 Desserts

  • Cake Mixes
  • Cookie Mixes
  • Pre-made frosting (check shelf life dates)
  • Brownie Mix

#3 Drinks

  • Gatoraid
  • Tea
  • Coffee
  • Starbucks Instant Coffee (Thanks @NetDep911)

#4 Snacks & Treats

  • Popcorn (Thanks @SurvivorJane)
  • Fish Crackers
  • Costco Almonds (The Principal likes these)
  • Hard Candies (Thanks, again, (@NetDep911)

I would suggest vacuum sealing or Mylar sealing what you can. Even the pouches of cookies or cake mix.
Maybe make mini MRE’s only for snacks.

  • Instant Coffee
  • Or Hot Chocolate
  • Candy Bar
  • Snack Bag of Almonds

To make it frugal buy the candy when it’s on clearance after a holiday. Easter is coming up and who wouldn’t love a Cadbury egg when TSHTF.
Also, a great way to stockpile the cake mixes and cookie mix is by couponing. These aren’t items I normally eat, but will be fine in this scenario.
I suppose if you were super motivated you could mix all the dry ingredients in a mason jar with a label. We have chickens so eggs aren’t an issue.
I’m not talking an everyday or even every week occurrence, but Birthday Cake will still go on!
