I am both saddened and encouraged by the response to this little series.
I first wrote about the statistics. I wanted you all to be aware. I then wanted you to know WHY. Why I wanted you to be aware of the statistics. It was because my son struggled with pornography.

I titled this recovering because, I believe, like with any addiction, there will always be a draw to it.

Why the picture with a bridge? I feel it resembles crossing over to recovery and leaving the addiction behind.

Where is he today?

He lives with 2 roommates about 40 minutes from us.
They share a room to hold each other accountable….so no girls in the bedroom.
He is in prayer about pastoring Jr High youth at his church. Yes, they are aware of his past. He is being held accountable to the leadership.
This is Redemption.

Jesus uses ALL things for good.

While my son wishes he hadn’t taken that path he is fully able and willing to help others that are taking the path he took.
He is giving God the glory for healing and restoration.
God didn’t turn his back on my son.
He is still using him in ministry.
Youth….where my son has always wanted to be. Maybe not Jr High…..but who loves Jr High 🙂

By not being quiet about his struggles, my son is able to be approached by the young men and boys in his youth that need help.
He can talk with them speaking from experience.
All to give God the glory of deliverance.

Would I be writing this series if it had turned out differently? I don’t know. I would like to think so. Writing in the midst of it instead of after I know the outcome.

I pray that this has encouraged you in some way. If you have a son, or daughter, that has pornography addiction. Know there is hope.

Never give up hope!
