Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be
loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.” ~John 14:21

As a mom to older boys when it comes to OBEDIENCE they really aren’t to be obedient to me so much anymore.  They do need to be obedient to Christ. To His calling. They need to be obedient to authority.  This is an area where our oldest struggles the most and has since at least kindergarten.  There has been much prayer over him about this very area.  Something we said often when they were growing up “Delayed obedience is disobedience”  There was no ‘hold on’ or ‘just a minute’ A ‘Yes mom’ or ‘Yes dad’ as acknowledgment that we were heard was always expected.  We weren’t/aren’t fire and brimstone parents, but obedience is a form of respect.

How are you working with your older sons in the area of obedience?

Please feel free to leave a comment. If you would like to be included in the e-mails let me know that too.
