Must Have Apps for Road-trips
Road trip apps.
When I saw the license plate game app I laughed. Thought no way.
Then I remembered Road trip 2003 (pre blogging days) and remembered the cool magnet game that I bought special.
I also remembered how we lost all of the cute little license plates and had to throw away the game.
So, yes, there is an app for checking off our license plate spotting State Hunt. This is merely a list of the states that you just check off as you see them. Simple.
Mapquest is a back-up to our GPS.
Gas Buddy Where to find the cheapest gas.
Rules of Shotgun is a great app if you have more than one child that can sit in the front seat. Funny rules and has actually helped settle arguments in our house.
Geocaching because what is a road trip without at least a cache in each state?
Trip Advisor to find things to do and good places to eat. Along the same lines as Yelp
Are you heading out west? Here are a few that were great for Wyoming and Yellowstone.
Yellowstone, Black Hills, and Explore Wyoming. These apps help find things to do and see. They also have restaurants and hotels listed.
My favorite, must have app? Roadside America! I did pay $2.99, but it is worth it to us to find those sites off the beaten path.
Next Road Trip App post will be on games for the kids.

Great list, Katey! I like Google Local to find good places to eat on the road.
