Why I Would Never buy Essential Oils at Walmart

I seem to have received some backlash for this article as I am a doTERRA Wellness Advocate.
I say here that I can’t speak to any other brand. This is because I don’t have any experience using any other brand. I am wondering how this is irresponsible on my part.
I was accused of not being “Green” because of the company I choose. I can assure you that doTERRA practices sustainable harvesting and growing with their Co-Impact Sourcing.
Does the company you use give back to their community and also the world? Do they help families start their own businesses with Micro Loans?
So Yes, I do “push” doTERRA if that is the word you choose to use. I prefer share. I share these life changing oils from a company that is having a GLOBAL impact. So before you throw tomatoes at me for wanting to protect others from essential oils that have been proven to not be what the label says they are, do your research. Pick the best company for you and don’t judge me for the choice I have made. /rant
I don’t even know where to start with this article. I want it to be educational for you, not a rant post on the quality, or lack there of, about some essential oils.
I Get It!
I want you to know I get it. I totally understand WHY you would want to get essential oils at Walmart or the health food store. Let’s face it, who wouldn’t want 2 different oils AND a diffuser for $20.
Not all oils are created equal.
Why you ask? Well, I am going to tell you.
There really isn’t a standard for essential oils. This goes for ALL essential oil companies, not just the share from home or the ones you find at a health food store. The labels on the Walmart oils say 100% pure. The tests done on them prove otherwise.
I never understood the different grades were
- Like synthetic IE wal mart
- Food grade oils
- Therapeutic grade
- And CPTG
We don’t have a governing agency that over looks oils and gives the “FDA’ approval….which I don’t necessarily want FDA in on the oils, but it is scary that just any company can say oh this oil is 100% essential oil or therapeutic when it is only 10% actually eo and then has fillers and solvents.
CPTG is 11 different standards of purity by doterra. If it doesn’t pass ALL 11 tests then doterra doesn’t release the oil. They also have a way for you to look up the test results were of a particular bottle. FULL DISCLOSURE!
Our essential oils don’t just come from the US. They come from all of the world. Lavender grows better in France, so why not get it from there.

What makes you irresponsible? The fact that you have only tried doTErra. Granted the oils you find at Walmart are inferior… after all… it is Walmart; you get what you pay for. That said, I would no sooner buy Walmart oils over doTerra. If you want great high-quality oils NOW and Eden Botanicals are the way to go. Both are ethically sourced and are of the highest standards.

So because I choose to use a brand that uses responsible way to source their oils, are 96% exclusive to doTERRA, has a globally positive impact by drilling wells and building schools, and educates their consumers… that makes me irresponsible?

I wish I could take this seriously however every time I read someone knocking down other brands they always have a brand of their own that they sell. This means you will always be biased and your claims cannot be trusted 100%. I believe you think your products or certain brand products are better than others but it proves nothing to simply make a claim and refer to someone else on Facebook (a known place for shills) to take the fall to legitimize your claims. I don’t have access to Facebook as it’s not any interest to me to be a part of. I also wouldn’t take anyone on Facebook seriously as I’ve seen and heard enough to avoid it. I’ve not had any issues with buying $10 bottles of essential oils from amazon. Amazon buys in bulk and therefore should be able to sell for less. When I can put a drop of oil in a gallon of water and have an entire floor of my own drowning in a strong aromatic flavor than that tells me the potency and quality must be very good. If I saw independent testing for essential oils and with no particular company associated with the fact their product is better and why we sell this I may consider that data if provided in a professional unbiased manner. I can appreciate wanting quality products but not at the expense where competition is so deep there is always a why we are better statement included. Just my thoughts and opinions you can take it for what it’s worth but I have a set budget I can use for essential oils and have no interest in paying twice as much when the results I get suffice for my needs.
I am so grateful that you have the option to go to Amazon, and I have the option to support farmers all over the world. It is so much more than a little bottle of oil. Lives are changed. You are right there with all of the other network marketing naysayers. Why? Because aunt Sally sold you $500 worth of Tupperware? Every corporation in the world makes money off of the consumer. I choose to buy from a reputable company who actually cares about their famers and harvesters. I also am able to work from home, which is a wonderful option for me since I couldn’t work a 9-5 job if I wanted to due to a mTBI.

I am 90 years and am for the first time hearing and reading about essential oils. It is quite confusing. No one around me has heard about it. I live in a senior facility. I am always interested in learning especially when it comes to depending solely on it.
I would appreciate if you would send material on bergamot…best use for blood pressure…its cost and on other oils as well.
