You’re a grand old flag,
You’re a high flying flag
And forever in peace may you wave.
You’re the emblem of
The land I love.
The home of the free and the brave.
Ev’ry heart beats true
‘neath the Red, White and Blue,
Where there’s never a boast or brag.
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
Keep your eye on the grand old flag.
The day America became independent from Britain. July 4th, 1776.
I asked on my Facebook page what the 4th of July meant to you.
Whitney K. being grateful for our freedom- I have family in the military and I am grateful, pray for and am blessed that they do what I couldn’t do. I enjoy my day by bbq, hanging out with friends, family, and my children and pondering lifes wonders through their eyes.
Heather M. Childhood memories of family picnics with my cousins, sparklers all aglow. Such an innocent time!
Amanda H. Our “birthday” of our country
Cheri C. Has always been the best day of the year my whole life…my dad always made it special. He was big on birthdays. It is a reminder of our freedom and the rights we celebrate as well.
Jessica G. Independence day to me is a reminder of what it took for this country had to go through to have freedom and to be able to worship God freely and not be under the reign of the king
I think of all the men and wemon who fight everyday for our freedom
When you ask The Principal he will tell you it stands for freedom. Liberty.
Ironically, in the years leading up to 1776, the Colonists were feeling the pressure of Great Britain telling them what to do and when.
The result was their desire to break away from Britain and become independent. To become the United States of America.
I say ironically because I feel the United States government is now doing to us what Great Britain did to the Colonists.
From trying to tell us how big our Big Gulp can be to calling preppers domestic terrorists
As a homeschooling, homesteading, Patriot that really enjoys shooting her 9mm and has learned to be self sufficient I am sure I am on some list somewhere.
First and foremost I am a Christian American that loves her country.
What will you be sharing with your children about the history of today? Is it more than just parades and BBQ’s to you? Share in the comments your thoughts.
