Do you ever wish life had a pause button?  The TV has pause.  Our iPods and DVD players have pause.  Heck even my washing machine has a pause button.  Kind of like the movie Click where Adam Sandler fast forwards through life.  We can pause and rewind the TV if we miss something or want to watch something again…ahem hockey.  We can pause our music.  My washing machine, no joke, has a pause button if I forget something.
Joey is leaving for college in 9 days.  9 Days!! Talk about wanting a pause button just to savor these last days.  Mostly because it is a new season of life and I don’t like change.
I remember thinking when we moved here 8 years ago…..they were 3,5,10 and 11…..I wanted to pause time….savor each age because I knew if I blinked it would be gone….It was a wonderful season.  Exhausting, but wonderful!
Now they are 11,13,18, and 20!  I blinked… I tried not to.  I may have only blinked once or twice, but that is all it took.  Gone are the pre-school days. The fingerprints on the windows days.  I am thankful there are still Nerf gun wars because I still have a middle school boy in the house.  I also have a teenager daughter I get to be girly with.
So reality is there is no pause button.  I am sure there are moms reading this with itty bitty’s and pre-schooler’s who think this time in your life is draaaaaggggiiiinnnnggggg…and there is no end in sight. Know that it does end. Savor every moment.  Even the sick-in-the-night moments or the fingers-under-the-bathroom-door moments… because those, too, will end.  Okay, they may not end entirely! They do happen less.

Go hug your babies. Pause life, if only for a snuggly moment. Soon enough they will be off to college and your pause button will no longer work.
